Geeky Stuff
I have recently started using SONAR Cakewalk for my recordings. Cakewalk is an amazin Sound synthesis software with some excellent features. Previously I had used Cool Edit Pro (now known as Adobe Audition) and FL Studio (earlier known as Fruity Loops)...Cakewalk kinda integrates some features of the above. SO I went for SONAR.
But it was not easy to use it. The first time I opened it on my laptop(IBM T43) I was shocked to see an error "Soundcard not supported". I selected "Use anyway" option (like I had any other choice) and started the software. But due to the soundcard issues I was not able to mix down the project into mp3 or to any other form.
So what did I do?? I bought Creative Audigy 2 NX USB sound card. It is darn costly but considering the features and the sound quality it gives both in Playback and Recording it is worth the money. Now I integrated my laptop and the sound card and the horizon is broadened. I am opened upto Soundfonts and MIDI processing with this. I do have to start recording though...My next target "MAudio Pro" - The best Sound card available in market.
